Winter Time!

While I sit here wrapped in a blanket with my coat and a sweatshirt on, the thermostat in my room reads 53, while outside it is supposedly 16 with a wind chill of 2 (Don't worry there is heat downstairs I just don't have any on upstairs besides a little space heater.) I'm enjoying watching December "I Do's" on Lifetime and the 25 days of Christmas on ABC Family. This is what I love about winter laying around bundled up and always able to find a good movie with a happy ending on TV.

Not only do I love laying around watching movies but I love Christmas time. Its the little things like: Buying gifts, Telling kids you know what they are getting and making them wonder just what it is, Going out with friends to eat and exchange gifts, drinking hot chocolate, and calling old friends just to say hi.

He's Here!!!

OK! So when I was told the name could be unisex and I had it narrowed down to the five letters, the first name I guessed was Bradley. Well Gina said no thats not it besides thats whats his names daughters name and she had already said she didn't know any kids named this. So with all this said....

Bradley Stephen-Earl was born.... The middle name is a combination of both of Bradley's Grandpa's names Stephen from his paternal grandpa and Earl from my dad. Anyway he was born at 5:19pm he was 7lbs 2oz. 20.5in. long. And he looks like a Rush hahaha.

Here he is!!! Ok maybe I'm partial but i think he is the most adorable little boy ever!

Waitin on a baby

My sister is pregnant with her second child. This one is a boy which will be first boy in our family, so that is pretty exciting! She was scheduled to come in at 9am this morning to be induced, so now its 3:30pm and we are still waiting on him to come. Hopefully he will be here soon, I don't really mind sitting here but if there was a little baby to hold and observe (b/c that's all you really do with a newborn) it would make it so much better.

The thing that is killing me, and has been for a few days or maybe a few weeks is that the parents won't tell anyone the name! And I have been asking as many questions as I can to try to figure out the name, but there are a lot of them. After a series of questions I believe I had the name down to starting with one of five letters A,B,C,D,&M. It could possibly be a unisex name, I guess the thing I will be most curious to find out is what his name actually is and if I have actually guessed it and she told me no, or to see if all her answers to my questions were totally misleading and I totally am on the completely wrong track. Stay tuned for the name oh and probably a picture of the little guy, that is if he ever decides to come out!

Things kids say...

I'm around my nieces and other kids quite alot and some of the things they say just make me laugh....

Field trip to the Aquarium...
My 10year old niece to her friend: Hey we have to go find (insert boys name i forgot) and talk to him

Me: Why do you need to go talk to him?

My 10year old niece: B/c he is supposed to be hooking me up with his best friend and I need to talk to him to see if he has done it yet, b/c I have been crushing on his friend for a really long time.

Me: Oh really?

My 10year old niece: Yeah like since 2nd grade (she is in 5th)

Do 10 year olds know what hooking up even means? It was just funny
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Babysitting this afternoon...
Me to a little 7 year old girl: what your new dogs name again?

little girl: Cabella

Me: Oh yeah thats right I knew that

little girl: Hw did you know that? Did you get on Facebook?

How do 7 year olds know what facebook is?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday at Gina's....
Me to Gina: What do you need at the store again?

Hillary: Paper towels, Milk, and poop on the deck

none of which were on the list of things to buy, im pretty sure she had a couple more items but after poop on the deck i stopped listening.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At my parents shop
Hillary to my mom: Um Grandma I have a problem...

My mom: Whats your problem?

Hillary: I don't have a chair, can you get up?

So just for the record the princess got her way my mom got up and Hillary got the chair.

I have been tagged... 7 random things

1. I am tongue tied and have a hole under my tongue that I can stick various things such as tooth picks and sucker sticks through.

2. I am from the stone age and still use dial-up internet.

3. I love airports and flying! (except the one in Trinidad)

4. I once ate 3 Banana Splits at DQ in one setting, when i was 9

5. I have never lived outside of Bartlesville.

6. I have 73 pressed pennies and 1 pressed quarter.

7. I have never gone out and found a job they have all come to me.

I don't have anyone else to tag, and this was difficult for me to come up with 7 things.

There once was a building....

There once was a building that stood at 4101 Nowata Rd. That was until Oct. 21, 2008 when, along came a big track hoe and took that building away.

Stay tuned in the coming months to see what will take the place of that old building...

Going to Grandma's

Ok well it wasn't just Grandma's its Grandpa's too. My mom, my sister and I loaded up my three nieces and headed south of the border, the Oklahoma border that is. My sister and I began to think about it and realized that neither of us had been to see our grandparents in almost two years, so with me not working and the kids being on fall break we all loaded up last week and went for a visit. We left on Wednesday afternoon and came back on Friday night, it was a short trip but that was just fine with us. Though we love our grandparents to death the little town that they live is less than exciting, I mean you can only go to Wal-Mart so many times and well that is all there is to do there. But while we were there we took the opportunity to take a few pictures.

Gina and I took this picture of my Grandma, my Grandpa and the three girls. We then went to Wal-Mart blew it up to 8X10 and bought a frame for it we gave it to my grandparents I think it made their day. I know it was sitting right on top of the TV when we left for all to see anyway.

My mom ran to the grocery store to pick up a few things and found these wax vampire teeth/lips, Gina and I were all excited when she pulled them out then she told us they were for the girls. I guess we have to grow-up sometime :(

This is Tricksie, my dad got her for my grandparents 12 years ago. We sometimes wonder if she doesn't eat better than my grandparents. I mean how many rat terriers really weigh 40lbs? (by the way I'm not kidding, that's what the vet weighed her at)

And what would we do without timers on cameras? We took this pic of all of us before we left. I'm thinking Grammie and Grandpa don't really care too much for pictures.

THINGS AT THE FAIR

So normally I just go to the fair and eat the same stuff and see the same things. Well this year I did eat my corn dog, my caramel apple slices, and my cinnamon roasted almonds. I also registered to win whatever the news channels were giving away, walked through the prefab homes (not that I would ever buy or live in one but yet I still have a fascination with them), ate the samples of whatever people were giving away, watched demonstrations (Dalene I didn't sit and watch the salsa maker but when I saw it I thought of you), anyway you get the point you return to the fair every year though it never really changes the stuff is always the same.

Well this year I saw a sign saying the weiner mobile would be there so I was intrigued, I had never seen the weiner mobile, so I read the time that it would be there and what do you know it was there at that time!!! So Gina and I went out to the front of the Expo building and there it was just as amazing as I had always dreamed, Ok well maybe I have never dreamed of the weiner mobile. But I did get this awesome picture with it and the Oscar Meyer Weiner

What do I do when I'm not working?

I haven't worked since Tuesday of last week, so the common question is what do you do all day? Well I have been to the Tulsa fair, been to a consignment baby sale, had lunch with some friends, rearranged/cleaned a room in our house, dropped off and picked up my niece at school, and today I finally slept in for the first time since I haven't been employeed, then I made Lasagna and did some shopping with my sister. The agenda for tomorrow will be doing my laundry, cleaning my room and when that is done I will move onto the kitchen (my goal is to have the house semi-clean by the end of the week)Wish me Luck!

RIP Tiger Lilian 1991-2008

Ok so Tiger was my cat, my baby, the best cat ever. She started her life by being born in our bathroom linen closet on the clean towels, her mom Maggie was no dumb cat she knew the most sanitary place to have her babies. Well when our cat Maggie had her litter of kittens my parents told me I could pick out one kitten, so I looked them all over and I picked Tiger. Well we gave her the name Tiger simply because of her stripes, she later picked up Lilian, ok so maybe I was the only one who called her Lilian but I think the whole family used it from time to time. She had other alias too like Tigger lily, anyway you get the point. So Tiger was born in 1991 While we were at my sisters orchestra concert, she then became my baby, she would let me dress her up in doll clothes push her around in the doll stroler and even swaddle her in blankets. She has grown up with me, I mean I know she wasn't going to live forever, but we didn't expect this. My mom and I had gone to Walmart last night when we returned we were taking in the groceries and my dad was backing his truck into the driveway. Thats when he and I both heard a funny noise, he even got out of the truck to see what it was but didn't see anything. So we went about what we were doing, ate dinner and my dad went back outside. Thats when he saw her, she was laying next to the driveway with her collar next to her, we still aren't entirely sure what happened because none of her bones seemed to be broken, but she did have a spot on her head, my sister seems to think she got in the fan of the engine, my dad thinks maybe he just ran over the side of her head, but I think it looks like she was bit by something I guess we will never know. But it was sure an emotional time at our house last night, and I think my dad felt really guilty. I think we all loved that cat, I think she was just another member of the family. But now she is in heaven with my old dog Cookie who died a couple of summers ago. But Tiger will definitely be missed. :'(

Unrealistic

I'm a big fan of TV and movies as you could probably tell, but it is all so unrealistic. I mean some shows depict these lives that most ordinary people will never have, I guess there are some that are lucky and get the "perfect" life but really come on why does Hollywood have to place these unrealistic expectations in our minds. As a child I remember watching movies and thinking I want my life to be just like that when I grow up. But in all reality that's never going to happen, yes as an adult I realize that, but why give children false hope that one day they will live a fairy tale life?

Unemployed

As of tomorrow at 5:00pm I will be unemployed. What the future may hold I have yet to know. Some ask what are your dreams, what have you always wanted to do? Honestly I can say I don't know there was never a time as a child when I said when I grow up I want to be a doctor, a pilot, a teacher, or a dog trainer (ok so I just made that last one up). What I do know is I want to find a job that I enjoy, so if anyone knows of a job that they think would fit me let me know, I'm open for suggestions

You know you need a life when....

You know you need a life when....
1. You have nothing better to do on a Friday night besides go to a highschool football game.
2. You spend your entire saturday doing laundry.
3. You are at home alone in your pj's at 7:30 on a Saturday night.
4. You have watched 3 or more lifetime movies in one day.
5. You make plans for a Sunday afternoon nap on Saturday.
6. You can't make plans on certain nights of the week b/c it may cut into one of your TV shows.

So pretty much I'm saying this has been a very uneventful weekend. The highlight of my weekend was getting a haircut and starbucks this morning.

Pregnant People Everywhere

Has anyone noticed how many pregnant people there are right now? Maybe its just that time in most of the people around my age lives. I don't know but it seems every time I turn around I hear of someone else who is pregnant. Don't get me wrong I love kids, and its even better that they are someone else's and I get to send them home at the end of the day, but really with babies comes gifts I guess I should just brace myself and get ready to buy lots of pink and blue for the next few years.
This reminds me it was just a couple years ago that I believe I was saying the same thing about weddings. 2006 was the year for weddings, so I guess that 2009 will be the year for babies (or at least the start of the babies). So I'm getting out the pink and blue napkins and the baby shower games, lets let the fun begin!

Football

Our church has a WFL (Wesleyan football league), so to sign up they placed an insert in the Sunday bulletin, well I read the insert and it said nothing about it being just for guys. So being the person that I am, I decided I would just fill out the little form during church and mark that I would be a captain. So I filled it out and passed it down the row to my guy friends, they all just kinda laughed and said ok we will turn this in for you Nikki. So not really thinking anything about it I left after church well later that week I went to a friends house, who is helping organize the whole thing, he said hey Nikki i got a call earlier this week from our young adult pastor and he was really freaking out. I said how come? he said, well he was going through the football sign ups and found yours, I just kinda laughed. But apparently he was really concerned when he called my friend he said, um I think we have a problem and I don't know what to do. He said whats the problem? He said well we had a girl sign up and we never really specified that it was just for guys, and I just really don't think we can have a girl play. So my friend said well who is it, the pastor said Nikki. My friend then laughed and said I'm almost positive that is a joke. Tomorrow is the first night and I thought it would be funny if I showed up dressed to play and went up to the pastor and said whose team am I on. But maybe I should refrain and just stick to watching. I bet next year they will make a point of putting on the insert that it is only for guys however. And just for the record I have never played any kind of football in my life.

TV

You know what I love about the end of summer? The beginning of new seasons of my favorite TV shows. Tonight I watched my first season premier of the season, that being One Tree Hill. And I have to admit, TV is addiction, you know it would be one thing if it was only one show that I can't wait to watch every week but it doesn't end with just one. Sunday night is taken by Army Wives and Brothers & Sisters, Monday night is One Tree Hill, Thursday night is Grey's Anatomy. Actually I think I'm doing pretty good I have it down to only 4 shows, well at least for now anyway we shall see after the new ones start if I can keep it at 4. Ok well Lost will start again in early 2009 so then my number will be 5 but still not too bad, right?

The Future?

Ever wonder what the future may hold? Well I'm sure wondering that right about now. I don't know what I'm doing with my life and I don't necessarily like making decisions. Actually I began to think about it the other day and realized I have never really made huge decisions in my life. Yes I decided where I was going to college but that was more of a OWU comes to youth camp, that's where my friends planned to go and so that was that. I "chose" to major in business management and leadership, but that was more of a I don't know what I want to do and I will take the safe route and go with business I can do anything with that. But then I will go back a little further my first job, they needed someone my friend worked there brought me the application and I got the job. Oh but it doesn't stop with that job I have realized that every job I have had is because other people have called and said "Nikki i know someone who needs help and I know you need a job. Yes I know that happens for a lot of people but I can't go through my entire life just going with whatever may come my way. I guess I need to go out of my way and find something that I want to do and will really enjoy doing and go for it, the only drawl back is I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Oh the joys of being a "grown up".

Out of Shape!

So after watching the Olympics and seeing the toned bodies of the womens sand volleyball players or the track runners I have decided that im out of shape. Ok well i already knew that but I have become inspired to not be so fat and lazy. One might wonder what I have done to change this, well at this point not too much. I ate a salad for lunch yesterday, and not alot for dinner tonight. But i did go on a short bike ride tonight it was probably about a mile and a half, but hey its a start. Tomorrow I get to help Becca move into the dorms, walking up the stairs to the 4th floor will be a workout, so hopefully I will gradually get into some sort of routine. I just have to not be so lazy!

Olympics make me tired!

I think its about time for the Olympics to end, then just maybe I can get some sleep again. I'm not saying I get enough sleep when they Olympics aren't on but, how can one possible go to sleep when Michael Phelps is breaking all kinds of world records and winning 8 gold medals? Or when May and Walsh are dominating in volleyball? Or when gymnast are really earning a gold medal but getting rewarded with only silver? Oh you can't forget about the trampoline too. I do love the Olympics but I love my sleep as well. Only a few more days then I won't have to worry about this again for another 4 years... Ok or 2 when the winter Olympics are on.

My shirt from third grade

I have enough clothes that I am able to go without doing laundry for a month or two, but yet i think i don't have enough. Maybe its not that i don't think i have enough, maybe its more that i just like shopping, ok let me rephrase that i love shopping. So my problem is that when i buy new clothes i never get rid of any of the old ones, and when i say never i do truly mean never.

I have one shirt that I have cherished for a long time now. I remember the day i got the shirt, my grandma had taken me shopping for one outfit, well there were two that i just fell in love with. So my grandma (who spoiled me beyond belief) gave in and told me to go ahead and get both outfits, her only stipulation was that i had to promise that i would wear them both, so of course I'm going to agree I mean after all i was going into third grade. Well one outfit i wore a little bit i mean I'm sure my grandma didn't waste any money buying it for me, but the other outfit i just couldn't get enough of. Well i stopped wearing the shorts to the outfit but the shirt i just loved! But that was back when i was in third grade there should be a time when the shirt doesn't fit me anymore right? Well the shirt still fits me, maybe not quite the same fit as it used to but i can still wear it. So I'm going to turn over a new leaf and I'm going to finally retire my old shirt from third grade, but don't worry i plan on making a t-shirt quilt someday and it will definitely be the center square! So here it is my shirt from third grade goodbye old shirt :'(

Girls Trip to Branson

My dad decided that my mom, my sisters, my nieces and myself should all load up and go to Branson for a girls weekend. What brought this on one might ask? Gina is pregnant, Laurie was starting a new job, and I'm hoping to embark on a new journey myself, in which I won't be seeing my family for a year or so. He just decided that we needed to go and spend time together before all these changes occur. So my dad tells my sisters and I to make the plans, my mother says she is no part of the plan making she is just going along with whatever we decide. Well if you know my family we aren't great at making plans ahead of time, but i talked to Laurie and Gina and we decided when we would leave, then Laurie started a search for a place to stay that was pretty much the extent of making plans. I mean it was a given that we would go to Silver Dollar City so what more did we need to do really? Well my brothers-in-law both said I want to go too, Gina talked Rick out of it but Evan went with us and was one of the girls for the weekend, well that's what i was calling him anyway. We had a fun time!
This is all of us girls right after we entered the park

The Lake

Over the 4th of July weekend we decided to head out to the lake for some fun in the sun. Ok so the guys wanted to fish and the girls wanted to swim and get some sun. We decided we would meet at my house at 11:00 I believe and it was somewhere around noon before we actually left (my family never does anything on time) my dad had to give us all boating 101 like none of us had never been on a boat, but that's ok better safe than sorry right?
This is one of our group pictures of course my nieces had to be in them
Remember how i said the guys wanted to go fishing? well Jon and Matt weren't catching too much actually they didn't catch anything all day. Renana had to go show them how it was done, she caught this fish in about 5 mins. needless to say the guys were less than thrilled. This also ended up being the only catch of the day way to go Nana!

The new me

The New me can now be seen on Dalene's blog http://www.littledalene.blogspot.com/ they aren't the best pictures but i wasn't in the best of moods, something to do with sleep deprivation and the overwhelming changes that were happening to my hair and face just made me a grouch sorry about that girls!

Not doing so good!

Ok so it has only been a week and already I'm not able to keep up with a blog. Maybe the problem is I have nothing to write about? But alot happens in everyday life I should have something right? Tonight Dalene and I went and watched Get Smart, hilarious movie i would recommend it highly, maybe not to small children there are a few choice words but still hilarious. Maybe i will become more diligent about writing and post some more. As for those pictures i said i was going to post well Dalene hasn't sent me the afters yet but as soon as she does i will post them.

Blogging seems like the thing to do

Well it seems as though blogging is the thing to do, so lets see if i have any luck with this. I start things like this and do really well with it for about 3weeks then i start to lose interest, lets see how long i can stick with it.
